The Poinsett Piano Trio performs Beethoven, Fauré: Trio, Op. 120 and Brahms: Trio in B major, Op. 8. Founded in 2008, the trio consists of pianist David Gross, violinist Deirdre Hutton, and cellist Christopher Hutton. All teach at Furman University in Greenville, SC. As a trio they have played concerts across the United States, and International tours to New Zealand and Germany.
The ensemble is named in honor of Joel Roberts Poinsett, a SC statesman, physician, and botanist from South Carolina who is most remembered today as the discoverer of the Mexican Poinsettia plant.
