Benjamin Britten's 'War Requiem'

Central Piedmont Community College and UNC Charlotte’s College of Arts + Architecture mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I with Benjamin Britten’s masterpiece 'The War Requiem.' The performances of this 20th-century work of reconciliation and peace employ two orchestras, mixed chorus, boys chorus, and three soloists, and is unique in its juxtaposition of Latin Requiem Mass texts and the transformative poetry of English soldier and WWI casualty Wilfred Owen. CPCC Music and UNC Charlotte’s College of Arts + Architecture partner in observance of this historical event bringing together ensembles and over 150 performers from the greater Charlotte community.
