Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of California-Davis Jesús A. De Loera will deliver the annual Bernard Society of Mathematics Lecture entitled “Helly’s Theorem: A Jewel of 20th Century Geometry." De Loera will describe a masterpiece of geometry discovered by Eduard Helly in 1913 that has since led to applications in many areas, from data mining, computer vision and voting.
