It's not a movie theater in the traditional sense - there are no on-screen promos telling patrons to hoof it to the lobby for stale popcorn and over-iced, over-priced sodas - but The Light Factory held a variety of film screenings this past year. The venue housed showings of such '80s faves as The Neverending Story and The Dark Crystal, supported aspiring and indie filmmakers with its annual Filmmakers' Showcase, and screened Le Havre, Tyrannosaur and other newer titles that otherwise wouldn't have played locally. Yes, it also held a free showing of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, but since that was screened outdoors rather than on site, we won't have to strip them of the award.
