Chance the Rapper — can we at least agree it’s one of the worst names in hip-hop? Just go by Chance — has been on a slow and steady road toward national recognition. Raised on the South Side of Chicago, his second mixtape, 2013’s Acid Rap, got him on a bigger national radar, even after opening for Childish Gambino for a 2012 tour. Recently, he had a hand cowriting a number of tracks for Kanye’s Life of Pablo album. (Jeff Hahne)
