Checklist for success at Brevard Court Sundries

When you go out to try a new restaurant, it is a good idea to have a way to evaluate a possible destination before, during and after visiting. I have a simple checklist. First, is the place busy? In the case of Brevard Court Sundries housed in Latta Arcade (145 Brevard Court), that would be a yes. The rule of thumb is to go where the people go. After watching the door of the restaurant for five minutes, it was apparent. On my recent trip there, I was surprised by the sheer number of patrons they had crammed into the small restaurant.

Is the food any good? The choice of a French Dip justified a "yes" with food served hot and full of flavor. The au jus gave perfect balance to the dish with a heavy beefiness that cut the sweetness of the roast beef and caramelized onions. The biggest of my checks is the price. Is it fairly priced? The entire meal was under 10 dollars with a portion size perfect for the price.

Finally, I always ask, would I come back? I left feeling satisfied. The desire to return was obvious.

For a great meal that passed all my criteria, try Brevard Court Sundries, located in the center of the outside portion of Latta Arcade. They've been open five days a week since its opening eight years ago.
