Touring in support of their fourth full-length album, Suck My Shirt, Atlanta punk-wave trio The Coathangers haven’t lost a step since they downsized from a quartet. No keyboards? No problem. The Minutemen didn’t need them either. They keep it simple and straightforward, balancing bits of their scrappy garage side with a lighter, polished mood thanks to better production, and maturity, perhaps. On a side note, check out the band’s video for “Follow Me,” which features Mastodon in drag. If that doesn’t say something about the Coathangers’ cred, I don’t know what does. (Jeff Hahne)
