Cristina Toro: Casa en el Cielo

The New York-based artist is proud of her native country of Puerto Rico and her former home in Florida. That’s clear when viewing nature and animals that emerge in her work. Her paintings, often resembling tapestries, are filled with symbols and hidden meanings. They have a curious feel that’s worth the “time and silence.” (Also, the exhibit’s title comes from a song by singer Cesária Évora.) (Anita Overcash)
