In a presentation titled “Honor Across Lines of Difference: The Danger of Silence,” Davidson alumnus Clint Smith ’10 addresses the importance of integrity, compassion and speaking up. Smith founded Davidson’s “FreeWord” slam poetry team as a student and continues to present award-winning performances. Since graduating from Davidson he has also created a program in Swaziland to educate youth about HIV/AIDS, been an award-winning Teach for America educator in Maryland, and presented a TED Talk. He is currently a doctoral candidate in education at Harvard University
