A strong representation of the countercultures defining Europe in 1968, If… depicts the generational struggles faced by an English school boy, played by Malcolm McDowell. Drawing on the director Lindsay Anderson's own experiences and ethos, If… is a coming of age story about tearing down the status quo and rebuilding something new for a new generation both within the narrow genre of film and in society at large. Presented as part of the Bechtler's film series 'Films of 1968: Style, Revolution and The Future.'
