This annual walk in honor of Hogmanay, or Scottish New Year’s, takes place on a 2.25-mile trail just a bit north of the city near Mountain Island Lake and includes stops at local historic sites to discuss history and folklore. A luncheon follows, and it’s bad luck to show up empty handed. Check the website for the types of items that are needed. There’s also a five-mile run associated with the event which begins an hour earlier.
