Will they be rockin' out in small town Bomont after Chicago-born Ren McCormack starts shaking up the teen culture — and wowing the minister's daughter? That's the question that the students of Charlotte's own Northwest School of the Arts will be settling as they present Footloose at Central Piedmont Community College's Halton Theater. Bomont's teens definitely want to dance, but not enough to face down their parents and Reverend Shaw Moore. That's where the dynamic Ren and the yummy Ariel must intervene. The tuneful 1984 film starring Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer became a Broadway musical with more tunes in 1998, milking new music and lyrics out of the likes of Kenny Loggins and Eric Carmen while collecting four Tony Award nominations. Northwest is on a roll these days.
