North Carolina has some excellent motorcycle routes that you are sure to enjoy riding along for a day trip or over the course of a weekend.

There are several routes near Charlotte. Here are just four of the best.

What to Do if You Are Involved in a Motorcycle Accident

Before we look at the top motorcycle routes in the area, it is worth mentioning that you should know what to do if you are involved in an accident.

As long as you ride safely and keep focused on the road, you can avoid being involved in an accident in the first place.

But if you do experience a road accident, make sure you check yourself and others for injuries and call an ambulance if necessary.

You should also call the police to file a report, get the contact details of the other parties involved in the accident and any witnesses, and take photos of the accident scene, which can be used later on to help prove liability.

After being injured in an accident, you should contact local capable and efficient lawyers who have experience in motorcycle accident cases. You could then pursue compensation to cover things like the costs of medical bills and lost income.

1. Route 182

For a short one-day trip that passes through the natural beauty of North Carolina, the so-called Meandering Peaceful Ride of Route 182 is the ideal motorcycle route to take.

Spanning thirty-four miles, you will pass through overhanging trees, farmland, meadows, country estates, and grain silos, and there are plenty of places to stop to explore the local natural world and wildlife like raccoons and deer.

Furthermore, you are sure to have fun riding on various road types. Route 182 is full of straightaways, hills, and curves.

2. Route 16

You are sure to have a great time riding the sixty-nine miles of Route 16, which runs from Charlotte to Wilkesboro.

You will come across spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. You will also pass through some quaint small towns where you can stop to relax and refuel.

Furthermore, the road quality of this route is excellent in general. It is only in the small towns where you might hit a few bumpy roads.

Route 16 is an ideal one-day trip, but you could also take your time and stretch out your journey over the weekend.

3. The Dirty Driving to Lake Lure Route

This motorcycle route is so called because it passes through the filming location of the famous Dirty Dancing movie.

Along the seventy-mile route, there are plenty of beautiful landscapes to behold. You will also pass through Chimney Rock, which is the gateway to Chimney Rock State Park; which is an ideal site to stop at if you intend to ride this route over two days at the weekend.

The route itself has plenty of twists and turns, so you will be able to enjoy doing some technical riding.

And the final destination of Lake Lure is a stunning location to end up at.

4. Pekin Road and Cartledge Creek Road

The thirty-five-mile route of Pekin Road and Cartledge Creek Road is undoubtedly one of the best routes in all of North Carolina.
