From the Back of the Line CL Recommends Image

When: Fri., May 3, 7 p.m. 2013
Price: Free admission
Using the hotbed of debate surrounding the United States’ immigration system as a backdrop, three Charlotteans — Hannah Levinson, Toby Shearer and Armando Bellmas — have teamed up to produce a film that puts a face to deportation. The 30-minute-long documentary, From the Back of the Line, explores the lives of immigrants who struggle with the constant threat of being deported and the impact it’s had on their lives. Highlighting families that have been affected by deportation proceedings, families with some members that have citizenship while others do not, and undocumented students who have lived in the U.S. since childhood, the film raises points on the gaps in the system from within the Charlotte community. Following the screening, a reception and Q&A will be held with the filmmakers and some of the folks featured in the film.
