CIAA basketball – you gotta love it.
That is, if you've seen it.
As the weeklong party that is the CIAA basketball tournament rolls into town, the basketball seems to be the one thing people forget about. It's all about the celebrities and the parties. But let me tell you, until you've rolled up in Brayboy Gymnasium on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University and watched two teams battle it out, you don't know what you're missing.
It may not be the NBA or UNC vs. Duke, but the intensity and shit-talking can't be matched.
That's amped up 1,000 times during the tournament because you have alumni from all the CI schools in the house talking smack about who's the best. And we all know it's the Gold and Blue (I may be a little biased since I'm a JCSU grad).
The game play is fast-paced; it damned near looks like a fight every time the players go up for a rebound.
And don't let my school beat your school -- because then the fans turn on you and tell you to get your hat, your coat, your weave and leave.
Pull yourself away from a party and check out a game. You'll be glad you did.
