Go get your groove on at Salvador Deli this weekend

Don't show up at Salvador Deli on Aug. 29 expecting to lounge around, even if it is The Lounge Fest. With nine bands on the bill, there will be plenty more dancing than relaxing going on. The night is in celebration of The LRC's debut album release, Lurk'n, and they've made sure that you're going to get your groove on and enjoy yourself.

The LRC likes to pride themselves on their eccentric, jazz/funk-infused music, and are known for bringing the party with them, so don't expect anything less than a giant jam session. They've invited some of their favorite bands to join in on the fun, as well. Xav Proj, Buddah Groove, Deformati, Crackers & Snackmeat, Heavy Rotation, Eyes of the Elders, DJ Roobix, and Marsupial are all slated to perform, along with The LRC, between 2 p.m. and 2 a.m. And there's no cover, so why the hell wouldn't you go?

  • On Saturday, Oct. 21, hundreds gathered at Camp North End on Statesville Avenue for Charlotte's first black alternative music festival. We captured some of the bands in action on stage, but mostly we surveyed the grounds as fans, families, vendors and more lounged around the sprawling, colorful Camp North End site. It was a great day of music, food, fun, and sweet, autumn sunshine. (Photos by Mark Kemp)
