Even if you don’t speak Spanish, the multi-hued rock of Barcelona’s Jarabe De Palo will induce head-swaying. Led by vocalist and guitarist Pau Donés, the band fuses Latin rock, jazz, reggaeton, Spanish ballads and lots of straight-up rock. Mellow acoustic numbers are intermingled with blues riffs, sinewy sax, funky bass lines and Donés’ dry yet distinct vocals. He’s not a particularly good singer and there aren’t many emotive phrasings, but he goads the band into a cohesive vibe with his vocals as well as clean guitar riffs. They generally eschew the famed flamenco styling of their native Spain, opting instead to play wide-ranging tropical rock. (Samir Shukla)
