Her last time through town, earlier this year, Jessica Lea Mayfield was touring with Seth Avett for their tribute to the music of Elliott Smith. Now, the demure singer is back on her own, performing her often-emotional brand of alt-rock that focuses on her soft vocal style. That’s not to say she’s afraid to find a stronger edge these days — perhaps some of Dan Auerbach’s influence is getting stronger. (Jeff Hahne)
