John Mayall
For more than 50 years, British bandleader John Mayall has helmed combos ranging from experimental blues-jazz-fusion cooperatives to rootsy bare-wires outfits. His Bluesbreakers were a training camp for guitar gods — Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones’ Mick Taylor and Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green — but Mayall’s skills as a songwriter and musician shouldn’t get lost in his legend.
