Lotus
Launched in 2001, Lotus combined grunge, new wave and funk with mixed results. Sometimes the band’s grooves clicked, but just as often they were a lurching Frankenstein’s monster, stitched together from the tibia of Afrika Bambaataa and the spleen of Neil Young’s Crazy Horse. With their latest album Eat the Light, Lotus ditches their musical Cuisinart for sleek dance rock that recalls Remain in Light-era Talking Heads and the 1980’s funk of New Order. Lotus is less eccentric now, but still fun.
