New York, NY (November 22, 2019) - Pop/Soul singer, songwriter, dancer, entrepreneur, Ms. Olivia King, debuts her Christmas mashup, Away in a Manger / Little Drummer Boy, today.
A few years ago Olivia King decided to record a full Christmas album for her boyfriend as his Christmas gift and her Away in a Manger / Little Drummer Boy song seemed to be the hit of the album!
"It was the one I took the most time on as I wanted to pull a full-on "Pentatonix" and not have any instruments on the track, just my voice. It was definitely a challenge and I give major props to those guys!"
Olivia's Christmas album was made exclusively as a gift for her boyfriend so she actually never released any of those songs publicly. Now, after much encouragement from her boyfriend, family, and friends she is releasing "Away in a Manger / Little Drummer Boy" for you to add to your holiday playlist!
"My family, friends, and I all listen to that particular song each holiday season, so I wanted to finally share it with everyone. I ended up re-recording the whole track a few months ago because as an artist, I feel like I'm always growing so I wanted it to be my best!"
Olivia got the idea to combine these two songs when she heard Tamar Braxton mash up the two Christmas classics and she was in awe.
"The dynamic of Away in a Manger and Little Drummer Boy fit so beautifully together. I've been listening to Christmas music since August so I'm excited to add another Christmas tune to my holiday playlist!"
A native of Warwick, Rhode Island, Olivia combines old-school dance music with a modern twist. She draws inspiration from the unique sounds of Lauryn Hill, Musiq Soulchild, and Michael Jackson. Olivia’s songs have been featured on the Indie Charts, Spotify’s New Music Friday, Discover Weekly and Release Radar Playlists. Most recently, she was placed in a campaign for Caleb McLaughlin from the Emmy Award Winning Netflix Series “Stranger Things,” landing her a distribution deal with Kobalt Music.
