How many virtuoso acoustic guitarists do you know who can write amazingly catchy country-folk songs, both funny as hell and achingly sad; collaborate with artists ranging from hilarious Second City singer/comedian Tawny Newsome to the gloriously slipshod original UK punk band Mekons; and sing odes to North Carolina’s once-favorite economic lifeblood: cigarettes?
