There have been too many times when I’ve encountered other adults who would love to geek out at Discovery Place, but feel uncomfortable due to the large quantities of children that dominate its exhibits year-round. Not that anything is wrong with kids, but sometimes adults just need to be around other adults — especially without a fussy school group interrupting. This adults-only, after-hours event is the solution for folks 21 and up who are looking to unleash their inner child. The party’s focus is on Alien Worlds and Androids, a new exhibit that features Hollywood replicas of famous aliens and androids from films like Iron Man, Star Wars, Terminator and Alien. There’s also a nerf gun- and alien invaders-themed shootout, a large screen where folks can play ‘Angry Birds in Space,’ bar games — including glow-in-the-dark giant Jenga in a black-light aquarium, “Catapult” beer pong — and an aerial show from Caroline Calouche & Co. Liquid Nitrogen wine slushies available for sampling and a cash bar, too. Doesn’t this sound like fun? (Anita Overcash)
