Having choreographed and reworked the classic fairy tale and Tchaikovsky ballet Sleeping Beauty, Matthew Bourne enjoys extreme success on the other side of the pond, where he and his New Adventures company reside in Britain. So we don’t doubt that the production tweaks will keep us awake and engaged during a six-day run at Belk Theater. A season stunner on London’s West End, the show contains darker, more gothic elements that mesh with a plotline of romance and good vs. evil. Designer Lez Brotherston has created an assortment of impressive costumes and sets (which includes a lascivious nightclub) to take the experience to another level.
