Mrs. Meyer was a member of the New York Photo League, which is often credited with bringing art photography to the United States, in the ’40s. She photographed reflections of her city--- rough-edged, tender and very beautiful in its diversity. Her work was shown in the major 1949 exhibition, "This is the Photo League". After league disbanded, Sonia married and had a family, and her photos and negatives remained packed away in boxes for decades. Recently, with the help of her son, all that changed and her wonderful photos can now be shown.
