Allstate and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) recently announced that Davidson linebacker George Hatalowich is one of 22 student-athletes in the country named to the 2019 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® for his leadership in his local community and overall commitment to giving back.
To honor Hatalowich for all he does in the community, Allstate and members of the Davidson College athletics department coordinated a heart-warming surprise at Richardson Stadium before the team’s regularly scheduled practice last Thursday.

Hatalowich is a known leader in community service initiatives at Davidson College. He founded and is the president of the Davidson Chapter of Uplifting Athletes, an organization that aims to inspire those with rare diseases with hope through the power of sport. Hatalowich is responsible for raising over $25,000 to benefit the rare disease community and involving the Davidson Chapter in the “Uplifting Athletes Bowling” event, which engages local patients, families and caregivers with the team by bowling alongside them.
The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team was established in 1992, by the College Football Association, to recognize extra efforts by players and student support staff off the field whose remarkable stories often go unnoticed. While the specific stories of these exceptional players change each year, the underlying devotion to volunteerism remains the same.
