The Antidote: Jazz & Poetry

THE ANTIDOTE #1

Ghost Trees (brief set, invocation); Justin Evans (poet); Jacob Wick (solo trumpet from Mexico City); Nathaniel Mackey (poet); Ballister (Dave Rempis, saxes; Fred Lonberg-Holm, cello; and Paal Nilssen-Love, drums — Chicago/Norway)

Join us for the first installment of THE ANTIDOTE! On each of the first three Fridays in October, Ghost Trees and Amy Bagwell team up to bring you alternating sets of jazz and poetry. Real and live and from the heart.

Ghost Trees will open the evening and offer a brief invocation before welcoming Justin Evans to the stage to read. Aferward, our old friend Jacob Wick (remember when he sat in with the Ghost Trees Big Band?) will play a solo trumpet set. We are excited to have poet Nathaniel Mackey (https://poetryfoundation.org/poets/nathaniel-mackey) join us to read his work. The red hot trio of Dave Rempis, Fred Lonberg-Holm, and Paal Nilssen-Love — known collectively as Ballister — will close things out for us.
