Marquis Sévéro wants to marry Denise, who loves André. Filled with jealousy, the Marquis sends André to prospect some land he has acquired and conspires to prevent Andre’s return. Andre befriends Papitou, played by Josephine Baker, who falls for him. She is torn once she realizes Andre plans to return to France and marry Denise. A film series specifically designed as a vehicle to expose the community to the vast artistic value black film has had throughout the years. The goal is to appeal to as diverse a population as possible and further the appreciation of Black cinema.
