The Dumb Waiter

After going bananas for Don't Cry for Me, Margaret Mitchell, Starving Artist Productions — best known for its annual holiday spectacle, The Birth — returns with a more deviant construct. The Dumb Waiter, opening July 24 with a five-day run at Duke Energy Theatre, is an adaptation of Harold Pinter's darkly comic crime thriller about two argumentative hit men (Nathan Rouse and James Dracy), killing time together as they wait for instruction on their next job. In the process, humanity overcomes the younger of the two, who begins questioning murder, and thus, his gruesome career choice. Matt Cosper (a winner of Theaterperson of the Year in CL's Theater Awards and director of Don't Cry for Me) directs performances of The Dumb Waiter, to be followed by cast and director talkbacks on opening and closing nights (July 24 & 28).
