The Natural
The Main Library’s 2014 summer film series, Made in 1984: Hollywood Movies from 30 Years Ago, kicks off with a screening of The Natural, starring Robert Redford in a mythic role as baseball player Roy Hobbs. Robert Duvall co-stars as sportswriter Max Mercy, while Glenn Close and Kim Basinger appear as the women in Hobbs’ life. This earned four Academy Award nominations, including one for Randy Newman’s now-legendary score. (Matt Brunson)
