Nashville songwriter Anne E. DeChant teams with author Frye Gaillard for “Watermelon Wine: The Poetry of Americana Music,” a unique program of reading and song. Gaillard will present brief readings, setting the context for Anne E.’s acoustic rendition of her songs. Gaillard, formerly Southern Editor of The Charlotte Observer, covered stories ranging from Charlotte’s landmark school desegregation case to the ill-fated ministry of televangelists Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker. DeChant, a seasoned artist, gutsy and sensitive, records astute, socially aware songs, in venues from The Bluebird Café to The White House, opening for artists from Norah Jones to Stevie Nicks.
