News Lose your job? Just return the car.

With people losing jobs left and right, a big purchase might not seem like a good idea. What if you buy a brand-new car, then end up losing your job and rendered unable to make the payments?
Well, with Hyundai's new return policy, you don't have to worry about that.
In a bid to woo skittish consumers, the South Korea-based automaker will cover the depreciation on any returned leased or financed vehicle for the first 12 months to those who find themselves unable to make their car payments.The "Hyundai Assurance Program" only applies to customers stricken by misfortune outside of their control, such as losing their job, becoming disabled or losing their driver's license for medical reasons.
How refreshing. An automaker that cares about its customers.

Sales / Window Shopping Perusing Phillips Place after hours

If you're a shopaholic, you must love this time of year. Stores start to clear out their winter items to make room for new inventory, and you get to indulge in clearance sales!!
Last night while waiting for a friend to show up for a movie, I walked around Phillips Place, peering through the windows of all the little boutiques. Here's some advice for shop owners: Put signs of sales up near windows. You never know when someone's looking in. Take a look at what I found just from a casual stroll down the sidewalks of and near Phillips Place:

A couple of shops were still open while I made my rounds, so I was able to milk a little more info on their clearance sales.

Hot Spots In the corner with Envy

Yesterday I stopped by Envy, a boutique located in Plaza Midwood on the corner of Central and Hawthorne. If you haven't checked out this spot, I highly recommend it for gift-getting — but do so when you've got time to really peruse all of the merchandise in each of their specialized sections. There's so much to look at, it might take you a while to find the perfect gift.
I had to take a photo of this mannequin adorned with charms, located in the Bangles and Baubles section.
Plume is the clothing boutique located inside Envy. Right now through January, all clothing items are 20 percent off.

News / Sales Benefit off an L.A. bankruptcy

The Wall Street Journal reports that another Los Angeles-based company has filed for bankruptcy.
KP Fashion Co., the Los Angeles-based company that runs the U.S. business of the Kira Plastinina label, has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in in U.S. bankruptcy court in Manhattan, citing more than $54 million in debts owed to more than 100 creditors.
Not exactly breaking news, right? But if you can reap some great sales on some contemporary clothing items and accessories, why not indulge a bit? There are still some items available for sale on their Web site, priced down at least 75 percent.

Is your resolution this year to join the "green movement"? Being environmentally conscious doesn't just mean shopping in the organic section at Harris Teeter. No sir. Not only can you eat organic, but you can WEAR organic as well.
Organic cotton is currently one of the most popular organic fibers used in clothing and apparel. According to the Organic Trade Association, "organic cotton is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment." In other words, organic cotton is grown without the insecticides, herbicides and synthetic fertilizers. Why is this a good thing for you? Because Fibre2Fashion.com says that many skin diseases and health hazards occur due to wearing of fabrics that are cultivated and processed by such products.
Eww, right?
