Vintage Etsy find: shopREiNViNTAGE

Posted By on Thu, Mar 17, 2011 at 11:42 AM

Love vintage? Love Etsy? Love them both ... locally! With Etsy's local finder, it is easy. Take shopREiNViNTAGE, for example, an amazing Etsy shop with great vintage finds — and by amazing, I mean ah-maz-ing. The best thing about vintage pieces is that you can find trendy pieces that are usually classics, and the best part is the likelihood of you seeing someone on the street with your outfit is slim. What girl wants to stare at another who stole her look?

vintage khaki caramel trench coat

Classic Trench

A staple in every closet, the classic trench is a must-have. The trench can take you through the seasons and is perfect for those in-between seasons like now (is tomorrow going to be warm? Cold? Who knows?). Khaki is the best neutral color to wear with practically anything. Snag this vintage staple for $64.

Seersucker Jacket

Seersucker Jacket

I am a lover of blazers, especially bright-colored ones. The best thing about a blazer is that it is a quick outfit that looks put together. For this seersucker jacket I would pair it with a white shirt and a pair of wide leg jeans and nude pumps and a chunky necklace. Perfection for a spring day.

Pajama Jeans: Yay or nay?

Posted By on Fri, Jan 7, 2011 at 12:32 PM

First, there was the Snuggie. Now, there's Pajama Jeans, the "hot new fashion sensation that fits every figure perfectly."

What won't people buy, right?

pajama-jeans-2

At first, I didn't know what to think of this new "As Seen on TV" product. Basically, you're looking at a pair of navy blue sweat pants with threading on the side to make them look like denim. Who's going to spend $39.95 + shipping and handling on something you can buy from Walmart on the cheap? The driving concept is comfort, and what's more comfortable than a pair of sweat pants or stretchy yoga pants?

And yet ... I'd almost guarantee that the Pajama Jeans will be as hot as the Snuggie. Remember when that product came out? Sure, people scoffed that you could attain the same result by wearing a bathrobe backward — and yet, I'm sure you know more than one person who has one. (In fact, I bought my boyfriend a camouflage one for Christmas.)

So, what do you think? Do you see a pair of Pajama Jeans in your future?

Protest TSA X-ray scanners with metallic-ink printed clothes

Posted By on Thu, Dec 9, 2010 at 11:30 AM

C SCAN T-SHIRT

Do you hate those intrusive X-ray scanners at the airport? It's a matter of principle, you grumble to yourself, as you walk through those machines, violating your privacy and analyzing your goodies in the name of airport safety.

Well, before your next trip, you may want to invest in some underclothes from 4th Amendment Wear. The T-shirts and underwear they have available sport the text to the 4th Amendment — which is legible in the x-ray machine.

So how does it work? From the folks behind 4th Amendment Wear:

We found metallic type that could, in theory, show up on TSA scanners that would display the 4th amendment. The clothes are designed as a silent protest against the new reality of being searched to the point where we’re basically naked. We don't intend for this to be anything more than a thought-provoking way to fuel the debate about safety vs. civil liberties. If we sell a few items, great. But the main intention is to open more dialogue. It's more of a conceptual piece than anything else.

In case you've forgotten all that you learned in that U.S. government class so long ago, the 4th Amendment reads:

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

They also have underclothes available with the phrase: "Read the 4th Amendement perverts."

Holiday gift idea: Boots

Posted By on Wed, Dec 1, 2010 at 10:33 AM

Maybe I'm just a woman who begged her boyfriend to get her pink suede boots for her birthday, but I just think you can't go wrong with buying the lady in your life (whether that be the significant other, mom sister, etc.) a nice pair of boots.

And the folks at Step By Sloan have an incredible selection. Click here to see photos of all that they've got available.

And the cute red boot above? Pour La Victoire "Beca" DK in red suede. $330.

Photo: Holiday Eco-Cuffs

Posted By on Wed, Nov 3, 2010 at 12:01 PM

I'm still waiting for someone to buy me an Eco-Cuff from Green Market Girl. Gah, they're so pretty! For Christmas, maybe? Anyone? Anyone?

In the meantime, here's a glimpse of the creator's holiday selections, found on the business' Facebook page. It's never too early to start shopping for the holidays.

Can you answer that? Your dress is ringing

Posted By on Tue, Aug 31, 2010 at 4:50 PM

Want to make a statement with your outfit? Just flip the switch on those LED lights. Welcome to, technology meets your wardrobe.

I recently stumbled across CuteCircuit, a fashion company in London that designs "wearable technology." From their website: "CuteCircuit products are innovative intelligent clothing that integrate new functionalities into fashion through the use of smart textiles and micro electronics."

Here's one of their products: The Kinetic Dress, a Victorian-inspired evening gown that's black when you're still and lights up when you move. Watch the short video.

Another one of CuteCircuit's products (on sale soon) is the M Dress, which also functions as a mobile phone. Weird, right? Insert your SIM card beneath the label of the silk jersey dress. When the dress rings, bring your hand to the ear to answer the call, and when done talking, lower the arm downward to close the call. The perfect solution to finding a place to put your phone when you go out on the town.

But what if you go out dancing? Should you restrain from putting your arms up so you don't accidentally dial out?

$10 jeans found (on me)

Posted By on Tue, Jul 27, 2010 at 5:07 PM

I've told all my co-workers this, so I must share with you.

The Wallflower brand jeans I'm wearing today only cost me $10 (regular price $44), and they were found at Belk Southpark in the Juniors section.

The rack was pretty full on Sunday, but I'm sure that won't last long. If you're looking for some good-fitting jeans at a cheap price (because it's just too hot outside to be spending a lot of money on pants right now), go here.

Bonus: "Your butt looks great in those jeans," said one female co-worker.

Found this shoe featured on Outblush.com. Colorful, yes?

Reminiscent of Rainbow Bright? Indeed.
