Caskets not available at the flea market

Apparently, you can't find anything and everything at the flea market nowadays. Especially when you're booted out from your booth because your product makes people think about death.

An employee of Trader Marc’s, a six-week old flea market, had approved Eggleston’s request to rent space last Saturday.

But when the market’s owner, J.R. Pettus, noticed Eggleston was selling caskets, he pulled the plug on the booth.

“We studied a lot of flea markets before we opened this one and we didn’t see anyone selling caskets at any other flea market,” Pettus said.

Eggleston, who builds caskets in the back yard of his Rock Hill home, said he was approached by several interested people while manning his booth at the flea market.

“I’m trying to help anybody I can,” he said, noting his caskets cost thousands of dollars less than the most basic model offered by funeral homes.

Posted By on Mon, Aug 3, 2009 at 12:25 PM

I didn't know there was a black market for Victoria Secret bras.

Here's a case Gastonia police are trying to bust -- the theft of $7,200 worth of bras Saturday afternoon from the Victoria's Secret store at the Eastridge Mall.

The dangers of skinny jeans

Posted By on Wed, Jul 29, 2009 at 10:47 AM

skinny-jeans.png

I can't stand skinny jeans ... for me, I mean. I like to feel like I can breathe in my clothing. And it's much too hot outside to feel like I have another layer of skin on my body. I'm just saying.

I'm not knocking them for other folks, though. Skinny jeans can be stylish, accentuate curves and draw attention where you want them to. As a commentator on this Today show video clip states, they are the antithesis to mom jeans.

But it just wouldn't be right of me if I didn't bring to you skinny jean proponents' attention the potential health problems you can face wearing such tight denim: nerve damage, GI issues, bladder infections yeast infections and even blood clots in the legs.

Don't believe me? Hear the words straight out of the mouth of Dr. Keith Siller on the Today show clip here.

Not one for pain or discomfort, I'll just stick with my wide-legs, thanks.

Free Market Warrior vs. Uniquely Obama

Posted By on Tue, Jul 28, 2009 at 11:39 AM

By now I'm sure you've heard about the conservative kiosk owner at Concord Mills who sells merchandise critical of President Obama, amongst other things.

Loren Spivack says his kiosk, Free Market Warrior, is being nudged out of the Concord Mills mall in Concord, N.C., because of political reasons. He's scheduled to meet with mall officials Tuesday afternoon, when he might learn the fate of his eight-foot-long kiosk. A press conference at a nearby hotel is slated for 3 p.m., he told FOXNews.com.

Well, if you're pro-Obama, you can check out a kiosk at Northlake Mall called Uniquely Obama. The owner's got all that Obama merchandise that was on sale on every street corner in DC during the inauguration: T-shirts, buttons, mugs, and more. Last time I checked it out, the kiosk also had Michael Jackson memorabilia on display.
