Dee Grano, originally from south Louisiana, is the director of marketing and special events at The Light Factory, a contemporary museum of photography and film located on College Street.

1) Books:1 Dead in Attic by Chris Rose, who is a reporter for the Times-Picayune. It’s interesting because it’s a collection of pieces he wrote during Katrina. He became the voice of the people stuck in New Orleans. The name [of the book] comes from what they spray-painted across houses when people died in their attics.”

2) Eats: “One of my favorite restaurants is Alexander Michaels. I love it because they have great beer, excellent food. It’s a very warm, cozy, welcoming place. I like off the wall, independent places.”

3) Films:Caché. It’s a foreign film, a French film, about a couple who receives strange videotapes in the mail, which are recordings of their life. I like French movies because they’re mysterious and leave a lot to the imagination.”

4) Filmmaker: “Steven Soderbergh. His work is always thought-provoking. He’s done Sex, Lies, and Video Tape. Erin Brockovich. He also directed Traffic.

5) Music: “I really like any music that’s well-done, but I really like unknown singer/songwriter folks, alternative and lounge music.” Right now one of the albums she’s listening to is Love Me Like the Roses, by the Divine Maggees.
