Oh, Bartender's Ball. That annual party that raises money for a good cause, gives me a chance to dress up all fancy-like, AND lets me sample the drink-making skills from bartenders all over the city. I'm so excited you've come around again.
Hosted at the Blake Hotel on Feb. 19 (7 p.m.-midnight), this is one shindig you don't want to miss. The people are beautiful and the drinks are ever-flowing. So ever-flowing, in fact, that last year, I missed one step coming down the stairs. Oops! I'll just blame the shoes! (But the fact that I remember that says a lot.)
And another bonus: All the proceeds go to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Through the end of the month, general admission tickets are $60. On Feb. 1, they'll go up to $70. These tickets include open bar with top-shelf liquors and full line of beers, catered food by The Men's Club, and entertainment.
Red Bull VIP tickets are going for $104.75 and includes top shelf liquor, private food section catered by The Men's Club, lounge cocktail sitting, and private access to the Red Bull VIP lounge right next to DJs and dance floor.

Adulthood has its perks, for sure, but there are also certain things we're expected to leave behind us. Like how past a certain age, most of us are hesitant to don a costume for anything besides a Halloween bash-unless you've fallen in with this crowd. To indulge the childhood spirit in us all, The EpiCentre and CarolinaNightlife.com are joining forces, in an attempt to to break the Guinness Book of World Record for the Most People Dressed as Where's Waldo (or Wanda), in one place.
Last year's event drew a crowd of 893, but if Charlotteans really want to compete, we better step our game up :the current World Record is 3,872 people and was achieved at the Street Performance World Championship in Dublin, Ireland last June.
Participants will all need to dress up as Waldo or Wenda. Costumes can be handmade or bought from any costume store. The Morris Costumes retailer in Charlotte has Where's Waldo costumes on sale specifically for this event! Hand made costumes must follow the set guidelines of:
· White bobble hat with a red bobble and red trim
· Clear Glasses (sunglasses are not acceptable)
· Red and white striped shirt
· Blue jeans
· Appropriate footwear
Waldos and Wendas will be given free access to all the venues at the EpiCentre the night of the event. There will be prizes for the first 500 guests to arrive properly decked out. At midnight the participants will meet in the lower-level quad area for the official count.
The event will take place at the EpiCentre, 210 E. Trade St. on Saturday, Feb. 11, starting at 6 p.m. If you want to revel in the joy of reliving your childhood, with all the Big Boy/Big Girl advantages, you can buy your $10 dollar tickets here.
