Pentagon charges Sept.11 suspects

Officials will seek the death penalty for six detainees connected to Sept. 11 attacks under a military tribunal system that draws criticism about its representation policies for defendants. Judges will review evidence acquired from the interrogation tactic known as waterboarding to determine if it will be allowed in trial.

Candidates abound in N.C. races

Smithfield workers: No pay for preparatory work at pork plant

More employees claim Smithfield Packing Company has been paying them inadequately and files a revised lawsuit for more compensation in U.S. District Court. Smithfield spokesman says workers receive additional money for donating their gear.
