Blindsided

Posted By on Mon, Sep 15, 2008 at 8:32 AM

While the world was watching Palin, no one was watching the world. Huge stories took place all week and all we could talk about (me included) is the world's most famous hockey mom plucked from obscurity and thrown into the limelight. Oil prices are through the roof, Chavez recalled and expelled the US Ambassador to Venezuela, and the oil industry got caught with its pants down, literally. Most of us missed these important events because we are so focused on nonsense — the nomination of Palin. It doesn't make any sense — her nomination or our obsession with an obviously overhyped, under-qualified candidate.
