The teen at the center of the Jena 6 case was arrested for shoplifting. He then tried to kill himself with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. A young man who could make anything of himself with the entire black community behind him, would rather be in jail or dead. It is a sad day when a young person whose life is so full of hope and possibility decides that there is none. What's even sadder is that yet again, black folks look crazy for standing up for someone who won't stand up for us or himself.
