Party of No: 'No' to school improvements

Posted By on Tue, May 19, 2009 at 9:55 AM

Even though the bill passed the House, every single North Carolina Republican voted against the 21st Century Green High-Performing Public School Facilities Act, first proposed in Oct. 2007 by Democrat Representative Ben Chandler from Kentucky.

The purpose of the bill?

Grants under this title shall be for the purpose of modernizing, renovating, or repairing public school facilities, based on their need for such improvements, to be safe, healthy, high-performing, and up-to-date technologically.

Now, why would our elected officials want our kids to go to school that are "safe, healthy, high-performing and up-to-date technologically"?

Oh, that's right -- our Democratic officials do want those things for our country's children, but the Party of No just can't bring themselves to put their constituents before their political party or "public service" career.
