Catawba Lands Conservancy: 'The time is now'

Posted By on Thu, Sep 16, 2010 at 10:51 AM

The Catawba Lands Conservancy just kicked off a new fundraising drive:

With your help, we have protected more than 8,000 acres of the region's most important shorelines, farms and forests.

The economic downturn has created many challenges for our community, but it has also created a tremendous opportunity for the Conservancy to protect land previously slated for development at unprecedented low values.

In order to take advantage of this "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity, we are asking you to join us in our commitment to raise an additional $400,000 in annual, sustainable support to aid the Conservancy's mission of saving local lands.

Here's Eddie Poe, a Conservancy board member, with more about the organization:

Here's why conserving land in Charlotte-Mecklenburg is important. (To sum up, we're running out of green space.)
