UPDATED: Charlotte's first homicide of 2011 hits Creative Loafing

Posted By on Wed, Jan 12, 2011 at 9:00 AM

Christopher Julian Radok, 55, is Charlotte's first homicide victim of 2011. According to a report from Charlotte Mecklenburg Police, officers responded to call to check on Radok around 1 p.m. "When officers arrived on scene, they entered the house and discovered a male victim unconscious and suffering from an apparent stab wound.  There were signs of a struggle inside the residence.  The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene."

Late Monday, police arrested and charged Antoine Dion Young, 29, with murder, armed robbery and larceny of vehicle. Detectives believe that Young acted alone during the commission of this crime and are not currently seeking additional suspects, according to a release from CMPD.

Police are still looking for Radok's car, a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, apparently gray in color.  The vehicle has a North Carolina license plate of WPH-5769. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit Detective.  In addition, you may also call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

To Creative Loafing, Radok is more than just another random victim of violence. He was a valued and noted photographer who worked for CL for a number of years.
