Dropkick Murphys playing The Fillmore tonight (3/5/13)

Dropkick Murphys

The Dropkick Murphys make music that's about as subtle as a bull in a china shop, but when a band sounds as good as they do, does it matter? Worshiping at the altar of The Pogues, Stiff Little Fingers and Last Resort, Boston's favorite sons have been cranking out their signature blend of street punk and traditional Irish music since 1996 and show no signs of slowing down. Celt punk may seem like a bad idea to anyone who hasn't heard it, but the Murphys continue to stand out in the sea of imitators they've inspired. Their working-class anthems may be growing a bit stale after their eighth album of same-sounding songs, but at least they're consistent enough to be good and honest enough not to care. With Jim Lockey & the Solemn Sun, Old Man Markley. $28. March 5, 8 p.m. The Fillmore, 1000 N.C. Music Factory Blvd. 704-916-8970.
