DEBBIE DAVIES
Her voice doesn't quite have the punch of her recordings from a couple of decades back, but Davies can still swing her axe of choice, the blues guitar, something mean. The singer/songwriter's music is one small part R&B, another part rock and a whole lotta blues. She played with numerous blues outfits, including a couple all-female, in the '80s and early '90s and released her solo debut 20 years ago. But clearly, it's her stint with guitar master Albert Collins that has influenced her clean, thick guitar chops. She has become a blues master herself, and whether she's flying through a blues-rock barn burner or showcasing her technical prowess as on the all-instrumental album she released, Davies works the electrified six strings with a knowing and road-worn ease. $15. July 6, 10 p.m. Double Door Inn, 1218 Charlottetowne Ave. 704-376-1446.
