OK, OK, so Elwoods, isnt a country music place ... at least, not every night it isnt. But from the delicious BBQ to the variety of live music every Friday and Saturday, Elwoods (located at 10403-J Park Road) has a lot of reasons to boot and scoot over there.
Elwoods Music Hall just opened seven months ago, and is owned by the same people that own Fifty 1 and the Yellow Rose at Touchstone. During the day, its a damn good restaurant, serving up burgers and BBQ. And the smell of their BBQ is so tantalizing, it hits you before you even walk through the door.
But even better, the food is really well-priced. Elwoods offers great lunch specials; in fact, you could call it BBQ on a budget. For $5.99, guests can get a Lil Elwood or a Beef Brisket sandwich, with a soft drink and side included. As for drink specials, theres $2.50 domestics, $4 Tallboys and $5 bombs.
And at night, its still a damn good BBQ place, but with an added twist it becomes a concert hall. Amy, a lady who has worked there since the place opened, gave me the grand tour.
When you walk through the door youre immediately at the bar, but Amy tells me thats not what Elwoods intended. We were going for a red carpet type look for the music hall entrance, but the bar part sticks out, and because the Elwoods sign is there we dont really use this one anymore, Amy explained as she showed me the intended entrance.

It's once again time for two handfuls of bands to celebrate the music of Johnny Cash. The 7th annual Cash Bash will be held at Puckett's Farm Equipment on April 9 and 10.
As is the custom, each band will play a brief set highlighted by performing two Cash covers mixed in -- everything from the well known to the more obscure tunes usually show up. And don't be surprised if a bunch of people hop up on stage to help out on "Ring of Fire," either.
Friday night features The Truckstop Preachers, Jem Crossland & the Hypertonics, The Defilers, South 85 and The Go-Devils. Saturday night will have John Howie Jr & the Rosewood Bluff, The Straight-8's, The Bo-Stevens, Sean K Preston and The Tremors.
It's always a great night of music, so get out there and soak up the tunes. Tickets are $10 and the music starts at 8 p.m. each night.

I have yet to see Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too, which hit theaters last weekend ... but I heard it was good. The first one definitely was, even though for a good part of the movie, I hated men. But doesn't Perry's movies usually do that anyway?
Anyway.
