And once again, here's proof there is something to do beyond Uptown.
The last time I headed out to the University area was to meet up with a friend for dinner, and we chose Boardwalk Billy's. As it turned out, the patios of both The Wine Vault and Boardwalk Billy's were packed. I'd never seen this area so populated and wondered why all these people were out here ... until I noticed the band playing on the stage near the water.
Oh. The Summer Concert Series at The Shoppes at University Place. Think Alive After 5-esque except with the additional audience of ducks in the pond and families (with cute dogs!) lounging on blankets on the grass on the other side of the water.
The Summer Concert Series has been going on for 21 years, and Thursday, July 29, is the last day of this year's series. The featured band this week is South 85, a local, female-fronted Americana/alt-country band. Go out and enjoy a cold one (remember, no coolers nor glass containers!) near the water and the sign says No Feeding the Ducks.
