A two-day jazz fest

Posted By on Thu, Jun 23, 2011 at 9:10 AM

Smooth beats, fast fingers and loud horns— I could only be talking about one event.

It's the 2nd Annual Jazz Fest in a two-day event. Only this Friday and Saturday will you be able to catch seven of the greatest local and internationaljazz artists on the same stage.

The "In The Spotlight" show on Friday June 24 includes rhythmic performances by the energetic saxophone beats of Shableek and Uncommon Jazz; Marcus Johnson and his smooth piano sounds, and the soft whimsical voice of Michael Franks.

Continuing the musical festivities in the "Under The Stars" show on Saturday will be the funky eclectic music of Jeff Lorber Fusion; powerful sax blows of Gerald Albright; and the collaborative and wide variety of talent from DMS (David Sanborn, Marcus Miller and George Duke).

Jazz Fest is held at the NC Music Factory. Friday's performances will begin at 8:30 p.m. and Saturday's at 6:30 p.m. To buy tickets visit www.uptowncharlottejazzfest.com.
