Hard News World AIDS Day: Do you know your status?

If you're having sex, you need to get tested. And if you've been wondering where to do or questioning if you should get tested, pay attention.

First, go get tested. Even if you practice safe sex, you need to know your status. HIV is no joke. There may have been advancements in treatments, but this is a serious disease that there is no cure for. It's the responsible thing to do.

Second, here are some sites in Charlotte where you can go and get tested:

The Mecklenburg County Health Department.

The Lesbian and Gay Community Center.

Request a Test: Appointment required.

CarolinaRAIN.

You have to know your status. And on World AIDS Day, you should go and get tested.

Here are some sobering facts about HIV in Mecklenburg County:

From 1999 to 2007 HIV cases increased by 57%

Mecklenburg County has the highest number of HIV/AIDS cases in North Carolina.
