Hard News Another case of the double standard in sex offender cases

A 16-year-old girl flaunts her body in front of the 35-year-old father of her friend. She teases him with sexual innuendos, advances and tells him, "I will show you things you've never seen" and "you know you want it."
The father logs on to the Internet, looking for the age of consent, and he finds a link that says it's 16. The next time the girl makes a sexual advance on him, he boldly says, "If you want to have sex with me, you are going to have to be a woman about it." Then they have sex twice, because he figures once the deed is done, she will leave him alone.
Then people find out that the 35-year-old man had sex with the 16-year-old girl, and he finds out the age of consent is 17, not 16, as the link said.
How much time do you think he'd get in jail? Do you think there would even be a deal offered to this father, who was friends with the girl and her parents on social media?
Let me answer that for you: Hell no.
The above story is true, only it involves a mother and a 16-year-old boy.
Here are the differences in the reporting of the story:
1. The mother isn't named. I'm sorry, is she a rape victim here?
2. The mother isn't being described as men are when they are accused of sexual molestation.
3. The victim is taking the brunt of the blame here.
Defense counsel Greg Richardson said the woman tried to dismiss the sexual advances of the boy, who he described as being physically large. The boy would say "I will show you things you've never seen" and "you know you want it"."In the end she thought if she had sex with him he would go away," he said.
The woman told the boy before they had sex that his mum would be angry if she found out, after she had a conversation with the boy's mum regarding a possible sexual relationship the boy was having with another woman in her 20s.
Crown prosecutor Patrick Dixon said the woman and the boy chatted for about 20 minutes on Facebook last year before the boy asked her "do you want to have some fun".
The mother of two rebuffed his advance, but later picked him up and they went to her house. They watched a movie together and she laid her legs across his lap while on the sofa.
She told him he would "have to be a man" if they were to have sex, went to the bedroom, the boy followed and she "climbed on top of him", Mr Dixon said.
The boy visited the home again the next day and the woman placed a knife in her bedroom door in an effort to keep the boy out of her room, Mr Richardson said.
So, are women given some sort of cougar defense now when it comes to molesting a child?
