Hard News A fitting sentence: Man will spend 84 years in prison for rape

It took a three-day trial to convict a Charlotte man for raping a woman in 2009.
WBTV is reporting that 30-year-old Jarrod Willis will spend 84 years behind bars for the rape.
On March 12, 2009, Willis drove up beside the victim and forced her into his car at gunpoint. He drove to a secluded location and sexually assaulted her before he robbed her.DNA was collected from the victim and matched to Willis' from a previous felony conviction, according to the release.
This sentence is especially significant in North Carolina where criminals pay a higher price for abusing animals than women.
Seriously, animal abuse is a felony, assault on a female — a misdemeanor. We all love animals, but can the women of N.C. get some love and protection as well.
If the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office, which announced on Tuesday that there will be a team to handle domestic violence cases, continues to get big wins like this, being a woman might be a little safer.

The purported sex tape starring former N.C. Sen. John Edwards and his baby mama Rielle Hunter may never ever come to light. Once again, a hearing about the ownership of the tape has been delayed. Damn!
The Associated Press reported yesterday that the Nov. 7 hearing to determine if former Edwards aide Andrew Young and his wife are in contempt for turning over documents from a civil case to the feds seeking to put Edwards behind bars.
Former Edwards mistress Rielle Hunter sued the Youngs last year to recover personal items that include a purported sex tape she recorded with Edwards as he sought the White House.Judge Michael Morgan delayed a planned Nov. 7 hearing until January to give more time for a federal judge to decide whether to quash subpoenas from the state court.
The Youngs say they were complying with a secret federal subpoena when they turned over sealed evidence that included a deposition from Edwards.
So what does this mean to looky-lou's like myself (and you reading this)? A longer wait to see what this sex tape is all about.
